Description
Outfitted with helmet, sword and shield, gleaming smile and
prodigious muscles - it can be no other than the Scarlet Knight from Rutgers,
the State University of New Jersey, one of the nation's most historic
universities. The Knight has to be smiling, because Rutgers
is now a member of the Big Ten and desires to be in the possession of any deserving
alumnus or fan.
Rutgers colors actually came well
before the Knight existed. It's well known that in 1869, Rutgers
hosted Princeton in the first ever collegiate football
game. In order to distinguish themselves from the Princeton
players, Rutgers gridders wore scarlet turbans and handkerchiefs.
But it wasn't until 1955 that Rutgers students selected the
Knight as the school mascot, taking the place of the chanticleer, a rooster.
You can possess your own Scarlet Knight, all rock-solid 47
pounds of him. Produced of the finest premium cast stone and finished in (of
course!) scarlet, or if you prefer, in vintage graystone or rich bronze. In any event, the
Knight will be a welcome addition to your collection of Rutgers
memorabilia. Free shipping is included with your purchase.
